# Event and materials: Finnish farmland biodiversity 27.5.2026

A joint event organized by Valio Food 2.0 program and University of Helsinki took place on May 27th at Finland’s most urban farm: The Viikki Research Farm is located at the geographical midpoint of Helsinki and home to a dairy cattle, among other things.

In the morning session, speakers from Syke, Luke and MTK explored recent research of Finnish farmland nature, and Valio, Viking Malt, Arla, OP and Lidl provided examples on what actions have been taken in the food chain towards supporting biodiversity and protecting the farmland nature.

In the afternoon, participants headed out to explore the Viikki dairy barn surroundings and got more information from University of Helsinki Research staff for example on the effects of grazing.
