The immune system and vitamins

From the perspective of the adequate intake of vitamins and minerals with the impact on normal functioning of the natural immune system, it is important to pay attention to the quality of foodstuffs and to follow a balanced diet.

Studies have shown that a good level of vitamin D in the body contribute the normal functioning of the immune system as part of a balanced and varied diet and a healthy lifestyle. Vitamin D enhances the formation of components that prevent the activity of pathogenic bacteria in the body, thanks to which the pathogenic microbes die before they reach the respiratory tract.

Our intestines are part of our immune systems

The intestines have key functions in our bodies. We get the nutrients we need through the nutrition that passes through our intestines. Their enormous surface area – equal to that of a tennis court – allows the nutrients to get absorbed by our body.


Substances harmful to our system, however, may also end up in our bodies alongside food and drink. It is the job of the intestines to prevent these substances from entering our system. The intestines are thereby an important immunological organ, a part of our bodies' defence system. The intestines protect our system fromharmful substances when the one cell-layer thick wall of the intestine is suitably impermeable.  A balanced basis of bacteria helps to keep the lining of our intestines in shape.
