Finnish consumers identified Valio as the most sustainable brand from among 100 companies. Some 4,000 consumers responded to the Sustainable Brand Index™ online study.
Established in Sweden in 2011, Sustainable Brand Index™ is the largest brand study on sustainability in the Nordic countries. The food industry was included in the Finnish brand study for the first time in 2014.
Valio topped the poll. 57% of Finns who responded to the study rated the company’s ability to take responsibility for the environment as good or very good, and 49% gave the same rating to Valio’s social responsibility.
Sustainable Brand Index™ annually measures the biggest brands in Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway. The brands are selected on market share, turnover, number of personnel, and general brand awareness.
The study is based on the 10 principles of the UN Global Compact initiative which concern human rights, labour conditions, care for the environment, and anti-corruption.
