# Science Based Targets (SBTi)







Valio is committed to Paris Agreement-aligned, science-based emission reduction targets (Science Based Targets initiative, SBTi), which guide companies in limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees.

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) validated Valio’s targets in 2021. Valio was the second Finnish food company to set scientifically assessed SBTi climate targets.

## Concrete reduction targets for 2030

Valio’s SBTi targets focus on significant emission reductions across the entire value chain by 2030. The actions needed to achieve this target are promoted and monitored through Valio’s Climate Programme.

## Our key targets are:



- We will halve greenhouse gas emissions from milk production per litre of milk received.
- We will reduce emissions from energy use at production plants by half.
- ​We will reduce emissions from milk collection logistics by one third.









## On the path towards a carbon neutral milk value chain by 2035

The SBTi targets are milestones towards our broader vision of a carbon-neutral milk value chain by 2035.

Emissions reductions are integrated into the Valio Executive Board’s long-term incentive (LTI) scheme, which underscores the strategic importance of climate work for the company.
