# Transparent sourcing





The most important areas of responsible sourcing are food safety, supply chain transparency, social responsibility and environmental responsibility. Milk is the most important raw material in our products, but our production also requires the procurement of many other raw materials, products, and services, which we cover on these pages. Valio’s procurement principles guide our purchases. We require our suppliers to commit to responsible business practices. We ensure the food safety and supply chain responsibility through a supplier approval and management process.

The production of raw materials always has an impact on the surrounding environment and people. We have identified raw materials whose production involves a particularly high number of globally recognized responsibility risks, and we have developed specific policies for their procurement.
