Funding opportunities from the Food 2.0 network – Danish Food and Bio Cluster

Valio Food 2.0 research program has an ecosystem of over 200 members. We now share to our ecosystem new funding opportunities from The Danish Food & Bio Cluster, that has two open research funding calls, and importantly, companies and universities outside Denmark are also eligible to apply.
Please note that the coordinator must be a Danish university or company.
For academic partners and companies: Pathways to Net-Zero: Futureproofing sustainable agri-food system
- Application deadline 30th September, 2026
- Grant: total pool of 12 million EUR, minimum 400.000 EUR (no maximum)
- Funding rate up to 75% is available for projects lasting up to four years.
- Main applicant must be a Danish university or company. Projects need to be for consortia. Priority is given to broad consortias covering the whole value chain and also with European participants.
- Eligible project topics: methane‑reducing technologies, plant‑rich food solutions, climate‑friendly crops, and biogenic carbon utilisation.

For academic partners and researchers: Plant2Food
- Abstract deadline June 19th, 2026
- This funding is for basic research within the scope of plant crops, special priority is given to the crops; fava beans, rapeseed and potatoes.
- In Call Round 2026, funding can be applied for within three different grant types, each of which has its own requirements for the project’s scope, consortium and budget.
- Main applicant must be a researcher from Aarhus University (DK), University of Copenhagen (DK), Danish Technical University (DK) or Wageningen University (NL)
- Grants: minimum of 4,5 million EUR, fundingrate 100%
