Valio’s sustainability work is an integral part of business operations and concentrates on themes that are based on the focus areas and targets of responsible business operations. We work on sustainability together with our entire value chain and manage these efforts systematically.

Sustainability work is a collaborative effort
The sustainable business focus areas define the themes that are the priorities of Valio’s sustainability work and targets. We have set targets for each focus area, we monitor them regularly, and we communicate information about their progress in our Sustainability Report.
We have defined a sustainability governance model. Material impacts, risks and opportunities are taken into account in the company’s strategy in line with the strategy process.
Because milk is central to Valio’s operations, we want to encourage dairy farmers to adopt responsible practices. This is the goal of Valio’s primary production sustainability programme and the sustainability bonus paid to dairy farmers.
